Just before “game over,” Sakis follows a path from 1 to 5, with the goal of creating a copy of himself.
From 1 to Blue is a short film directed by Sofia Priovolou, for which I worked as a graphic designer and animator. I developed the film’s graphic language across its titles, animated graphics and end credits, as well as the promotional poster. I also created a series of pixel-art animations, introducing a playful digital layer that connects with the film’s narrative and its references to gaming. Working across both static and moving image, I aimed to create a visual identity that could naturally exist within the world of the film while adding another layer of storytelling through typography, animation and graphic detail.

I visualised this journey through a pixel-art arcade animation, drawing inspiration from iconic 90s video games such as Super Mario and Mega Man, as well as the nostalgic aesthetics of early arcade culture. The visual language extends to the titles and on-screen codes, which were inspired by the distinctive coding style of Commodore computers, bringing together retro gaming, digital nostalgia, and storytelling into a playful visual world.
